To make the booking process as seamless as possible, we've compiled answers to some frequently asked questions about hiring a cellist for your event. If you can't find what you're looking for here, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
How far in advance should I book a cellist?
To ensure the availability of your preferred cellist, we recommend booking at least 12 months before your event. Our professional cellists are in high demand, especially during the peak summer wedding season. However, we will always do our best to accommodate last-minute requests.
What styles of music can a cellist play?
Our cellists are incredibly versatile and skilled in a wide range of musical genres, from classical pieces like Ave Maria (as famously performed by Sheku Kanneh-Mason at Prince Harry and Megan Markle's wedding) to modern pop hits from artists such as Ed Sheeran, Adele and Christina Perri.
Popular classical music pieces on the cello:
- J.S. Bach - Prelude from Cello Suite No.1 in G Major
- J.S. Bach - Sarabande from Cello Suite No.2 in D minor
- Zoltán Kodály - Sonata for Solo Cello
- Ave Maria - Franz Schubert
- Pablo Casals - Song of the Birds (El Cant dels Ocells)
- Gaspar Cassadó - Suite for Solo Cello
- György Ligeti - Sonata for Solo Cello

- Benjamin Britten - Cello Suite No.1
- Sergei Prokofiev - March from Music for Children
- J.S. Bach - Gigue from Cello Suite No.3 in C Major
For something more up-to-date, our cellists can put a classical spin on just about any chart-topping hit. Some familiar wedding songs include:
- Adele - Someone Like You
- Avicii - Wake Me up

Can I request specific songs?
Our musicians are more than happy to accommodate special song requests for your processional or ceremony exit music. Please provide any specific song requests during the booking process to give the cellist ample time to prepare.
How long will the cellist play for?
Our cellists offer flexible performance times based on your schedule and requirements. The minimum booknig time for most cello players is 1 hour, perfect for guest arrival and ceremony music.
For drinks receptions, we recommend 2 x 45 or 2 x 60 minute sets to ensure the music flows seamlessly throughout your event.
What space and equipment does the cellist need?
Your cellist will require an armless chair and a space of about 2 square meters to perform comfortably. Any other equipment such as amplification, will be provided by your cellist if needed.
How much does it cost to hire a cellist?
The cost to hire a cellist can vary depending on the length of the performance and the specifics of your event. As a general guide, the price for a local booking ranges between £250 and £400, with additional travel expenses on top. Please enquire for a quote tailored to your event.
