Frequently Asked Questions

If it's your first time booking a band, you're certain to have lots of questions! Below you can find a list of the most common questions about booking a band. If you can't find what you're looking for, please feel free to email us.

The Performance

What time will the band arrive?

Bands will usually arrive and set-up from 5:30pm-6pm onwards. For weddings, this means they're ready to set up as soon as the wedding breakfast and speeches are finished. With corporate and charity events, the band will always set up and sound check before guests arrive. If you require the band to set up earlier in the day an additional fee may be required.

How long does it take the band to set up?

Most bands will set up in around an hour. This will vary depending on the size of the band and event.

How long will the band play for?

Every band has various options but you can expect most bands to offer either 2 x 45, 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 minute sets.

How long are the intervals?

The intervals are usually around 20 minutes long but this can be longer to suit your requirements on the day.

What time should the band start playing?

This is completely up to you and your schedule on the day. For evening events, we find it's often best to start the band at around 9pm but this is purely a guide.

Will the band learn a specific song to be played at our Event / Wedding?

Most bands will learn one special song for free so if you have a first dance or a song to the end the night on, just let us know a few months before the event. Please note that this doesn't apply to all of our bands so you may wish to run your song request past one of our team before making your booking.

Can we choose the set list?

You're welcome to send over a list of your favourite songs from the bands repertoire and the band will try to include these in their set. Bear in mind that most bands will alter their set to suit the audience reaction.

Does the band provide music between and before sets?

Yes, our bands are happy to provide music via an iPod/iPad between sets, this is usually a pre-mixed playlist. If you have particular songs in mind, you're also welcome to create your own playlists which can be played through the band's PA system.

What will the band wear?

Function bands will usually dress smart in suits or shirt and trousers. If you've chosen a band with a particular image, then you can expect the band to be dressed in a similar style to their promotional videos and photos.

Will the band require refreshments?

We request that the band is provided with free soft drinks throughout their stay at the venue and a meal, usually after they've set up. Most bands will leave for the event mid-afternoon and will often arrive home early hours of the morning so a hot meal is always greatly appreciated.

Are there any hidden fees such as VAT?

No, all fees such as VAT are included in the price where applicable.

Does the price quoted include travel costs and expenses?

Yes, all quotes include travel expenses.

What if the band or member of the band can't make it on the day due to illness?

If a member of the band is unable to attend on the day of the event due to illness, the band will use a suitable replacement. All of our bands have a number of back-up (dep) musicians for this kind of scenario.

In the very unlikely event that the all members are unable to attend due to illness, we will find a suitable replacement or offer a full refund at your request.

The Venue

Does the band provide their own PA system / Sound equipment?

Yes, all bands are self-contained and provide suitable sound equipment.

Do we need to hire a raised stage?

A stage is always a great addition to a performance but is not a requirement.

What are the minimum power requirements for the band?

Most bands require at least 2-3 independent 13 amp sockets. This can vary depending on the size of the band and sound system. Details will be included on the contract.
