What is a wedding singer?
The term wedding singer possibly brings to mind connotations of Adam Sandler, Culture Club and 80s red leather jackets - but it doesn't have to!
A Wedding Singer is a professional singer who performs at weddings, either as a solo artist or as part of a wedding band.
Wedding singers come in many forms, from classical/opera singers, singer/guitarists and solo pianists to Rat Pack style jazz singers, acoustic duos and lively evening wedding bands.
Whether it's Ed Sheeran or Frank Sinatra you're into, you'll find the perfect wedding singer to compliment your special day.
What type of music does a wedding singer perform?
Whatever music you're into, you'll find a talented singer to match the theme of your big day. Our experienced singers perform a wide range of styles, including:
- Jazz swing, Rat Pack
- Acoustic folk music
- Popular 60s, 70s and 80s hits
- 90s Britpop
- Soul, Motown & RnB
- Modern pop songs
- Indie and rock covers
- Classical / Opera
To find what you're looking for, browse through the singers and musicians on this page, watch the live videos and scroll through their online repertoire. Once you've found a singer that ticks all the boxes, drop us an enquiry, and we'll come back to you with a quote.
What types of wedding singer do you offer?
We represent a range of singers for weddings, performing a wide variety of musical styles. Whether you're after classical and traditional wedding songs for the key moments of your wedding ceremony or feel-good acoustic tunes for the drinks reception, you'll find the perfect vocalist at Bands For Hire.
Many of our singers can adapt their set up to meet your individual needs: you can hire singers for weddings who use backing tracks, suitable for smaller venues and budgets; you can hire singers who accompany themselves on the guitar or piano, or who are accompanied by one or two musicians for a more live feel; and, you can go upwards from here and hire a full band with drums and bass.
Some of our most popular singers for hire include:
- Solo Acoustic Wedding Singers
Create a laid back atmosphere with a combination of intricate acoustic guitar and vocals. Our artists have put together an eclectic setlist to include everything from folk, jazz and soul to indie, rock and modern pop hits.
- Classical / Opera singers
Make a grand entrance with one of our professional Opera singers, perfect for wedding ceremonies and surprise performances during the wedding breakfast. To find out more, check out our singing waiters.
- Jazz Singers / Frank Sinatra / Rat Pack Crooners
A Rat pack or jazz singer is ideal for the champagne reception, wedding breakfast or early evening entertainment. Performing a selection of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, our jazz crooners are guaranteed to set the scene.
- Acoustic Wedding Duos (Vocals and Guitar player)
Most commonly featuring a singer and guitarist, an acoustic duo is a versatile option to take care of all your wedding entertainment.
- Party Singers
When a wedding band is overkill, a party singer with backing tracks is the ideal choice to get your guests dancing. Our singers accompany themselves with high-quality backing tracks to create lively party-sets that will be sure to entertain guests of all ages.
- Singer / Pianist
We represent a range of solo pianists with vocals, a popular choice for ceremonies, champagne receptions and wedding breakfasts.
- Singing Waiters for weddings
For something extra special, consider one of our entertaining singing waiters. Stealthy placed alongside the waiting staff, our secret singing waiters unexpectedly burst into song, creating a surprising and engaging spectacle that's sure to thrill your guests.
How much does it cost to hire a wedding singer?
The price of a wedding singer can vary considerably depending on a number of factors. As a general rule, you can expect quotes for ceremony music and the drinks reception music to fall somewhere in the region of £300-£500 for a solo singer.
Factors that may increase fees include travelling distance, extended periods at the venue, overnight accommodation and of course, the experience and quality of the wedding singer.
When will the wedding singer perform?
There are no set rules, but as a guide, you might decide to hire a wedding singer to perform the following:
- 15-20 minutes as guests arrive
- Processional song (as the wedding party and bride enters)
- Two songs during the signing of the registers
- Recessional song (Ceremony exit song)
- 1-hour Drinks reception
Depending on your schedule and budget, you may also like some background music during your wedding breakfast and some live music to get your evening party underway.
Every one of our singers has a great deal of experience in each of these areas, so you can rest assured that they'll know what'll work.
Will my wedding singer learn a song request?
Yes, if you have a particular piece in mind for your ceremony or first dance, our singers will be happy to learn a song request just for you.
If you have more than one song request, there may be a small fee to cover rehearsal time. If you already know what you're after, just let us know, and we'll confirm the details in your quote.
Are wedding singers suitable for the evening wedding reception?
Absolutely! Whilst some of our acoustic wedding singers are more suited to low-key ceremony music, we also represent an extensive roster of wedding singers who can get the party started.
If you're looking for a wedding singer for evening entertainment, we highly recommend a soloist or duo that utilises backing tracks or loop pedals for a fuller sound.
If you have the venue space and budget, nothing quite beats the energy of a live wedding band. We represent the best wedding bands in the UK, performing the most popular songs from every generation. Head over to our wedding band section to find out more.
Do your wedding singers offer DJ sets?
Yes, many of our wedding singers and duos offer all-in wedding packages to include an evening DJ service. Booking an all-in wedding entertainment package means that your wedding singer will take care of every aspect of the day, from the ceremony and daytime champagne reception to the evening wedding party.

10/10 for everything. Very satisfied with the booking procedure, ease of your website, and Spenser was excellent. He turned up exactly when arranged, set up without problems and everyone enjoyed his music. We would recommend Bands For Hire to anyone looking for a musician or band and definitely recommend Spenser for his range of songs. He was a very pleasant person to deal with and looked very smart on the evening.
If a solo wedding singer isn't quite you're after, why not consider a wedding band or larger ensemble to compliment your day.
