What is a Festival Wedding Band?
Festival wedding bands come in many forms but the term usually refers to folk-rock cover bands performing in a bluegrass style, most recently made popular by the British band Mumford & Sons.
Featuring acoustic instruments such as double bass, banjo, acoustic guitar and violin, this uptempo bluegrass-style works perfectly in a festival setting.
There are no strict rules when it comes to festival bands, but you usually expect the set to include an assortment of upbeat festival anthems from every genre. The band's setlist might feature classic tracks from Mumford & Sons, Lumineers and George Ezra, as well as popular indie hits from the likes of Bastille, Oasis and The Killers.
Do Festival-themed bands only play Folk music?
Not at all, our live bands perform a broad repertoire of material to get guests of all ages on the dance floor.
Some of our popular Mumford and sons style bands offer an evening of two halves, a folky acoustic set to get guests warmed up and in the festival mood, followed by an electric guitar set featuring anything from Kings of Leon to The Jam.
How long do Festival Wedding Bands play for?
Most wedding bands perform two or three sets with short breaks of around 15-20 minutes. popular set formats are as follows:
- 2 x 45 minute sets
- 2 x 60 minute sets
- 3 x 40 minute sets
When do Festival Wedding Bands perform?
You can hire live wedding entertainment for just about any part of your wedding day. For afternoon reception music, you'll find a range of folky acoustic duos and roaming acoustic acts which fit nicely into a festival themed wedding.
For evening music, we recommend a 3 to 4-piece party band to really get the dance floor in full motion.
Do Indie/Folk bands provide DJ music when they aren't performing?
If you've booked a function band for the evening party, you can usually expect the band to provide playlists or DJ music between sets until midnight. Always check your quote to confirm exactly what's included in the package.
How do I book a Festival wedding band?
Once you've found a wedding band you like the look of, either fill in the contact form on their profile page or add them to your enquiry list.
If you're happy with your quote and would like to book, we'll just need you to send over your full name and address along with confirmation of the wedding venue.
At that point, we'll email you an online contract and invoice for a small deposit of approximately 20%. This can be paid by card or bank transfer.
