What music will the DJ play?
Our DJs are incredibly flexible and accommodating when it comes to the playlist. DJs aren’t limited by a fixed repertoire and can easily tailor their performance to include whatever type of music you're after. Some popular themes include:
- Contemporary Chart Hits
- 70s Soul & Motown
- 2000s Indie and Rock
- Club Tropicana 80s
- Cafe Del Mar
- 90s Dance/House
What different types of DJs are there?
Most DJs are adaptable and will be happy to play most genres of music. Some DJs, however, specialise in a particular style.
Traditional Wedding DJsAble to play the most popular chart hits from the past few decades, traditional DJs cater to their client's requests and are happy to offer music tailored to suit the event type.
Soul/Funk DJsA disco DJ will take you back to the golden years with soul, funk and R'n'B music all night long.
Vintage/Electro Swing DJsFor those not keen on more modern music, a vintage DJ will play all of the classics from the 20s and 30s to keep young and old dancing all night long.
Club/Ibiza DJFor those who want to bring nightclub vibes to a wedding party, a modern dance DJ can cover all your clubbing needs.
Do your Kent DJs bring all their own equipment?
When booking a DJ through Bands For Hire, all equipment is provided unless stated on the quotation. This includes a PA system (speakers), a mixing desk and basic lighting. Some of our Kent DJs offer upgrades to their basic package, which may include a bigger PA for larger events as well as more lighting options.
Do DJs have any technical requirements?
When setting up, the DJ will need access to power for their equipment. If performing indoors, then one or two 13amp sockets would suffice. If performing outside, for example, at a festival, they will need to be able to hook up to an extension lead that’s connected to a generator.
Do I need to provide food and drink for the DJ?
The requirements for food and drink differ slightly depending on what time of day the DJ will be booked.
For afternoon events, it’s appreciated if light refreshments are made available to the DJ, as well as a small plate from a buffet or a simple supplier's meal.
The requirements change for events in the evening, and a basic hot meal and refreshments such as soft drinks will be welcomed.
What time will the DJ arrive?
Generally, DJs arrive an hour before they are due to start to allow them time to set up their equipment and do a short sound test. If you require your DJ to arrive earlier, please mention this when enquiring, as additional charges may apply.
How much do DJs in Kent cost?
Our DJs offer competitive pricing and a range of options to suit every budget.
For a typical evening wedding reception, you can expect to pay between £500 and £700. If booking a DJ with added extras, such as live musicians, you will start seeing prices in and around the £1000 mark. For well-established DJs and large corporate events, prices can exceed £1000, going into the £1500 range.
Do your DJs provide lighting?
Most wedding DJs bring lighting to illuminate their DJ booth and the dance floor.
What types of events do DJs play?
Our DJs are available to hire for almost any type of event, big or small. Our DJs are experienced in performing at the following types of events:
- Weddings
- Birthdays
- Garden Parties
- Festivals
- Corporate Events
- Celebrations of Life
- Anniversaries
- Reunions
- Religious Events
Can I speak to the DJ before my event?
Certainly! We put our clients in touch with their DJ four weeks before the event date. Before that, our team of experts are on hand to assist with any questions.
How long will the DJ perform?
If you're looking to book a DJ as well as a live band, then the DJ will typically fill the gaps when the band aren't playing and then afterwards until the end of the night (usually 12am).
DJs are also happy to quote for whatever timings you have in mind, for example, a hire of 3 or 4 hours. Ultimately, a Wedding DJ will happily accommodate your schedule as best as possible.
Certain wedding DJs offer packages for the entire wedding day. Rest assured that they'll play the right music to suit the occasion.
Can I make song requests on the night?
What is a DJ Live Band?
Much like a traditional band, a DJ Live Band is a hybrid between DJ and real instruments such as guitars, sax or vocals. This fusion creates an exciting and upbeat atmosphere perfect for a wedding party. Head over to our DJ Live page to see them in action.
If you're looking for a function band to work alongside your DJ, check out our bands for hire in Kent where you'll find a wide range of local bands in your region.
How much space does a wedding DJ need?
We recommend reserving an area of 2 x 2 meters for a typical DJ. This will increase for larger set-ups, DJ sax duos and DJ Live bands.
Will the DJ be able to show proof of PAT and PLI Insurance?
Our Kent wedding DJs carry Portable Appliance Testing certificates and Public Liability Insurance. Often referred to as PAT/PLI for short.
Take your wedding entertainment to the next level with our unique DJ Live and Sax DJ acts.
