Whether you're planning a wedding, party or corporate event, our FAQs answer some of the most common queries about DJ hire in Leeds.
What type of DJs do you represent?
We offer various types of DJs, some more suited to particular types of events.
Wedding and Event DJs: A generalised DJ service to cater to a wide audience and are happy to play almost any type of music required.
Specialised DJs and Club DJs: A focus on particular genres and the ability to create unique mixes to make your event stand out from the crowd.
DJ Live Acts: A combination of live musicians performing alongside a professional DJ. Find out more below.
How long do DJs perform for?
For as long as you need! Let us know how long you need the DJ to perform, and we'll ensure we provide a quote to match your brief. To give you an idea, a wedding DJ will usually start the evening at around 6.30/7pm and play until midnight. Later finishes are possible and available on request.
What music does a DJ play?
For most weddings and functions, a DJ will play a mix of new and old classics to cater to a wide audience. The beauty of hiring a wedding DJ is that they'll play any type of music you want, from 80s hits, 90s, RnB, Motown, Soul, EDM and Pop/Rock.
If you're after a DJ to host a themed night, such as a vintage Electro Swing party, the DJ will create a playlist filled with appropriate tunes before the event.
How does it work when booking a band and a DJ?
If you've booked a band and would like a DJ to follow, then that's no problem. DJs work with other musicians and are very experienced in working with them to set up and coordinate timings in the night. We usually suggest that the band and DJ perform alternate sets rather than leaving one until the end.
I love the sound of Sax with DJ, is this option available?
You're not the only one! Sax/DJ is super popular and a staple feature in most DJ quotations. Some other options include:
- Vocals (male or female)
- Electric Guitar
- Percussion (bongos)
- Electric Violin
- Trumpet
If you're looking for a band that uses both real instrumentations and a DJ, why not hire one of our DJ Live hybrid bands? These high-energy, upbeat acts offer the best of both worlds and are excellent at getting the party in full swing right from the get-go.
How much does it cost to hire a DJ in Leeds?
Our Leeds DJ offer various packages to suit most budgets. For weddings, you should expect to pay anywhere in the region of £500 for a typical night of entertainment. When booking a DJ with additional musicians, prices will start to creep up to the £800-1000 region.
Prices vary depending on the set length, travel distance and time of year. For the most accurate prices, please enquire through the website to receive a personalised quotation.
When's the best time to book a Leeds DJ?
We advise booking at least 12 months before the event date to avoid disappointment. However, our Leeds DJs often have last-minute availability, so it's never too late to enquire!
Can a DJ dress to suit our themed event?
No problem, our DJs always come dressed to suit the type of event they're playing but are happy to be fashionably directed if it's a themed or stylised event.
What time will the DJ arrive?
Your DJ will usually arrive about an hour before they're due to start performing. This gives them enough time to unload, set up inside the venue and do a quick level check. If your schedule requires the DJ to set up at any other time, our DJs are happy to be flexible and work around you.
What types of events do your Leeds DJs cover?
Bookings are mainly split between weddings, private parties and corporate events. There's no event our DJs can't cover, and you'll find that they'll be happy to quote based on the event requirements. Aside from the events mentioned, our DJs also get booked for the following types of events:
- Christmas Parties
- New Years Eve Celebrations
- In-store Events
- Graduation Ball
- Summer Balls
- Charity Balls
- Clubs
- Festivals
Do your DJs provide lighting?
Along with their PA system, a DJ will ensure they bring sufficient lighting to illuminate themselves and the surrounding dance floor area. The specific lighting spec does vary by DJ, but typically you'll see LED spotlights, disco lights and up-lighters.
DJs often work with local hire companies and can sometimes offer upgraded lighting packages on request. If you want to add extra lighting equipment to your event space, please mention this when enquiring.
Are your DJs in Leeds happy to travel?
Our DJs generally work within a certain radius and are happy to quote, providing they're free. If the venue is far away, the DJ may still provide a quote but may ask that basic accommodation be provided for them on the night.
Our event is only small. Will this be a problem for your Leeds DJs?
There's no party too small! It won't be an issue if you're looking for a professional DJ to provide music to entertain a small number of people, as the DJ will adapt and ensure the music and sound levels are set appropriately.
Do Your DJs take song requests?
If you or your guests would like to request a song during their performance, they'll do their best to source it on the night. Venues often have WIFI access which can help a DJ find a song if they don't have it in their music library. If, before the event date, you have a special song in mind or an overall feel for the type of music you want to be played, our Leeds DJs will be happy to work with you to ensure all your favourite songs are included in their set.
Take your wedding entertainment to the next level with our unique DJ Live and Sax DJ acts.
