Found the perfect DJ in Manchester and ready to start making plans? We've compiled a list of FAQs featuring some of the most common queries about hiring a DJ.
What type of Music Does a DJ play?
A wedding party DJ set will often include many recognisable pop/rock songs from the last few decades as they're guaranteed floor fillers. You'll find that most DJs offer a range of styles and genres that they can play. To give you an idea of what our DJs get requested to play, please see below:
- Modern Pop
- 80s
- Soul/RnB
- Motown/Disco
- Ibiza Club Classics
- Electronic Dance Music (EDM)
You'll find that DJs tend to work with the client/agent in advance of the event and then tailor their set to meet requirements; for example, if there’s a preference for modern chart hits or classics from the decades etc. If you have a particular vibe/theme in mind, then our DJs are will be happy to accommodate you as best as possible.
Do Your Manchester DJs take Requests?
If you or your guests wish to request a certain song on the day, then most DJs will be happy to queue this up. If the DJ primarily uses a streaming service, they will typically need WIFI access at the venue. Before the event takes place, you'll also get the chance to directly discuss the playlist's general vibe with the DJ.
How Long Do DJs play for?
DJs are happy to perform for as little or long as required. If you're looking to hire a DJ for a wedding reception, the DJ will expect to be needed throughout the evening until the end of the night, usually around midnight but sometimes a little later. If you have specific times for your event, then a DJ will be happy to provide a quote to suit.
How Much does it cost to hire a DJ in Manchester?
Prices vary depending on the type of event and for how long you'd require the DJ to perform. We've put together a brief guide on what you can expect to pay for several DJ options we provide.
- Wedding Reception (usually a 5hr hire): £450 - £750
- All Day Wedding (music to cover all parts of the day) £750 - £1400
- DJ + Live Musicians (may include sax, vocals, percussion) - £800+
What type of Events do DJs cover?
No matter the type of event, our DJs are experienced enough to provide music to suit. Some popular events our DJs get booked for are:
- Wedding Party
- Birthdays
- Anniversaries
- Corporate events
- Festivals
- Private Parties
What Equipment Do DJs bring with them?
Professional DJs will have access to their own equipment, including a laptop or decks for playback, a mixer to control their levels and a PA system to output their sound. When looking to hire, these items will often be included in the price unless otherwise stated.
As well as sound equipment, DJs will provide professional lighting to create a disco/party atmosphere. You'll find that most DJs provide spotlights, up lighters, and, often on request, additional lighting for larger venues.
In some cases, DJs only provide a USB stick containing their music library and need all equipment provided at the venue. If this is the case, this will always be made clear when receiving a quote. Our DJs are often happy to help source equipment if needed as well.
Would I need to supply Food & Drink?
It can be a long day for a performing musician travelling and then performing, so it's always appreciated if light refreshments and food could be available upon arrival or during a break.
Can I book a DJ together with other musicians?
If you're looking to hire a DJ to perform alongside real musicians, then our DJ Live acts might be exactly what you're looking for. Perhaps it's a DJ/Sax duo you're after or a combination of vocals, guitars and percussion? You'll never see a dance floor fill so quickly once a DJ Live band start to play!
Would the DJ be happy to follow our wedding dress code?
Absolutely. Our DJs are always happy to dress in a way that suits the event type. Most DJs will typically wear similar clothing to how they're seen on their profile online.
Can we use the DJ's PA system for speeches?
A professional DJ will be happy to let you use their PA system if they're asked in advance. Remember that the DJ needs to have their equipment set up in time for when you'd like to make speeches or any announcements.
Would our DJ be happy to speak to our wedding band to coordinate the evening?
Our DJs in Manchester regularly work alongside live bands and are happy to speak to them in advance or on the day to coordinate things such as songs played, the setup, and performance times.
Do your Manchester DJs have insurance?
All the DJs on our books hold Public Liability Insurance and PAT-certified equipment. If your venue requires evidence of these, documentation can be sent throughout the booking process.
Will the DJ be able to adapt the music to suit the vibe of the party?
Throughout the night, the DJ will keep a close eye on the dance floor and how guests interact with the music. If required, the DJ will switch things up to keep the energy levels high and to maintain a party atmosphere.
Take your wedding entertainment to the next level with our unique DJ Live and Sax DJ acts.
