How much do wedding bands in Chester cost to hire?
The price of a wedding band varies, but you can expect to pay anything from £1000-£1500 and above for a high-quality function band in Chester.
There are several factors to consider that may affect the price of a wedding band, such as travel costs, performance times, peak/off-peak dates, early arrivals and late finish times.
For larger weddings, we also represent a range of soul bands delivering an explosive live sound that's sure to capture your guests' attention. Featuring a horn section and male and female vocals, the price of a soul band can vary greatly, usually starting in the region of £2000-£2500.
What does the band's fee include?
Most wedding bands offer an all-inclusive package to cover everything you'll need on the day.
We'll always confirm full details in your quote, but as an example, the following is a typical package for a party band in Chester.
- Set up and soundcheck from 5:30 pm/6 pm
- 2 x 60 minute or 3 x 40 minute live sets
- DJ Playlists throughout the evening
- Professional sound system (PA system, speakers etc.)
- Lighting rig

Do I need to book a wedding DJ as well?
All of our evening wedding bands provide free mp3 playlists between sets, so you won't need to hire a wedding DJ as well. However, many of our bands can provide a manned DJ service for a small extra fee if you'd prefer a band member to be on hand to take song requests, mix tracks and make announcements.
If your venue has sufficient space, a wedding DJ is always a fantastic addition to the day, adding variety to your evening entertainment. Head on over to our Wedding DJ section to find out more.
Will my wedding band learn our first dance song?
Most wedding bands are more than happy to learn one new song per event. If you have a specific song you'd like played, please let us know in advance, and we'll check that it's suitable for the band's line-up.
What type of music do wedding bands play?
Our most popular function bands cover a broad range of music from across the eras to keep your guests firmly on the dance floor. Whether you're into iconic rock 'n' roll legends of the 50s and 60s or modern pop and chart music, you'll find a party band that fits the bill.
In general, our cover bands perform a varied selection of wedding music to include the following:
- Modern Pop / Chart Music
- Indie / Rock / Britpop
- Soul / Motown / R&B / Garage
- Disco / Funk
- 50s/60s Rock 'n' Roll / Jive
- 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s
What time will the band arrive to set up?
Wedding bands usually base their quote on a standard arrival time of approximately 5:30 pm/6 pm. If the band are setting up in a separate room to the meal and speeches, they'll be able to set up straight away. Otherwise, the band will usually wait until the meal and speeches have finished avoiding any interruptions.
What time does the band start their sets?
Your wedding band will be happy to fit in with your schedule. As a rule, we recommend that the band starts no earlier than 8:30 pm/9 pm to avoid peaking too early on in the evening.
How long does the band take to set up?
Function bands typically take around an hour to set up and sound check. If you've booked a larger party band, you may need to allow between 90 minutes to 2 hours.
